A holy day dedicated to the
blessings of plants, in particular those that produce fruits and
flowers. On this day, many Balinese will be seen ceremoniously blessing
their gardens, farms and plantations in the hopes of a successful
harvest for the upcoming Galungan celebrations, when the fruits and
flowers will be abundantly used for temple ceremonies.

Festival happening at the Art Centre in Denpasar on these dates. This
fascinating festival will feature many different types of Barong
including Barong Ket, Barong Buntut and Makendang. A Barong is a
lion-like creature and character in the mythology of Bali, Indonesia. He
is the king of the spirits, leader of the hosts of good, and enemy of
Rangda, the demon queen and mother of all spirit guarders in the
mythological traditions of Bali

The Besakih Temple, also known as
the 'mother temple' in Bali, celebrates its biannual Piodalan temple
anniversary this month. Located at the foot of Mount Agung, the island’s
highest peak, this day is witness to a unique and exhilarating
religious tradition when pilgrims from all over the island head to the
temple for prayers. The anniversary coincides every Tuesday on a Kliwon
Julungwangi cycle on the Balinese 210-day Pawukon calendar.

Bali International Women's
Association, along with the Bali Mandarin Center is once again having
its Chinese New Year Food Festival 2016, the biggest Chinese annual
festival in Bali at The Trans Resort from 10am to 5pm. Bask in the true
ambience of a Chinese market with assortments of delicious Chinese food
including Peking Duck, Steam Buns and Dim Sum while you watch dragon
dances and Chinese performances. There are also stalls featuring
traditional Chinese clothing and accessories. Also stand a chance to win
the Grand Prize at the lucky draw.
