Pameran Seni Rupa HOMOLUDENS 4-013, September 10th 2013 @ Bentara Budaya Bali
Sebuah pameran seni rupa, bertajuk Homoludens, menghadirkan
karya-karya terkini sebagai respon atas tema besar ‘Bermain Dalam
Pandangan Perupa’. Kerangka pameran ini mengacu pada konsep bahwa
manusia adalah mahluk bermain, demikian juga perupa yang bermain dengan
estetika, artistika bentuk dan warna dalam kanvas, kertas, kayu, maupun
media lainnya. Selain memberi respon kreatif atas tema, eksebisi ini
diniatkan pula untuk membuka ruang baca-tafsir atas karya-karya
mutakhir perupa peserta pameran ini sehingga memungkinkan pemirsa
memahami perkembangan estetika dan pencapaian artistika sang perupa,
serta menghasilkan pengetahuan melalui penerbitan buku yang berisi
refleksi kurator dan pembacaan sejumlah penulis tamu atas proses kreatif
serta capaian karya-karya mereka dalam pameran ini sehingga
memungkinkan pemirsa mengetahui mutu artistik dan cita-rasa estetik
mereka.

The World Puppet Carnival with the Indonesian Puppeteers Association PEPADI and the Government of Indonesia presents the spectacular Wayang – World Puppet Carnival in Jakarta and Bali in early September. Over 60 productions from around the world have been selected to perform. The World Puppet Carnival will also be gathering puppeteers from all over the world. September 4th – Dark Moon – Hari Tilem Sasih Kasa
The Balinese adhering to the Hindu Dharma religion will celebrate ‘Tilem’ in temple ceremonies, which are mostly held in every major temple and family shrines around the island of Bali. On this day Hindus make offerings to the Gods, placed on the ground at the entrance of each housing compound.
September 19th – Full Moon – Hari Purnama Sasih Karo
The full moon (which has particular importance to the Balinese Hindus) falls on this day and ceremonies are held throughout the Hindu temples all across Bali. The Balinese that adhere to the Hindu Dharma religion will take offerings of food, fruit and flowers to the temple to be blesses by the priest. The Balinese themselves are then blessed by performing various rituals using holy water, incense smoke, petals and rice grains.

The Sanur Village Festival has become a major event on Bali after its huge success last year the organizers of the event are planning to make this event even better and bigger. This year promises a lot of water sports activities and adventure as well as green programmes such as beach cleaning campaign, baby turtle release, coral reef conservation and tree planting. All activities take place at Maisonette Area of Inna Grand Bali Beach Hotel, Sanur. T : 0361 – 286987, 8710083.
September 28th – Balinese Blessing Ceremony – Tumpek Wariga (a.k.a. Tumpek Uduh)
This Balinese Hindu ceremony is held every 210 days to honour and bless foods and plants for good crops and produce. The name Tumpek Wariga derived from two words, ‘Tumpek’, which means Saturday and ‘Wariga’ being the Balinese word for an appropriate or inappropriate day to worship. This special day honours God Sangkara, the God of Vegetation. The Balinese believe that Tumpek Wariga is a good day to beg any patronage for the sake of vegetation or plantation. It is forbidden to cut the trees or to gather any crops. Vegetation becoming the object of consecration during this ceremony is coconut trees, durian trees, rambutan etc. Prayers will be held at the temples across the island.
September 28th – The 63rd Miss World Pageant
For the first time in Indonesia, the island will host the Miss World Pageant, bringing the most beautiful young women from around the globe to the ‘Island of the Gods’. Last year, Julia Morley, chairwoman of the Miss World Organization, stated that Bali would host the 63rd competition on September 28th at the Sentul International Convention Center, Sentul and in Nusa Dua, Bali. Yu Wenxia of China PR will crown her successor at the end of this event and that 131 national beauty pageant winners had confirmed their attendance

August 8-9th – Hari Raya Idul Fitri
Idul Fitri marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting, reminding Muslims of self-discipline and reconciling to Allah, the Holy one. Idul Fitri lasts for three days of celebration and is sometimes also known as the “Smaller Eid” as compared to the Eid al-Adha that lasts three days following the Hajj and is casually referred to as the “Greater Eid
Muslims are commanded by the Qur’an to complete their fast on the last day of Ramadan and then recite the Takbir all throughout the period of Eid. It is also a national holiday so all banks and government offices will be closed..
August 9-10th – Ubud Village Jazz festival
The first Ubud Village Jazz Festival will bring together a lineup of various Jazz artists from Indonesia and all over the globe. Among the notable artists confirmed to perform are Koko Harsoe, Joe Rosenberg, Balawan & Batuan Ethnic Fusion, and Dwiki Darmawan. The festival will take place at the Arma Museum in Ubud.
August 10th – Balinese Blessing Ceremony – Hari Raya Saraswati
This day is devoted to God’s Manifestation as Dewi Saraswati, the beautiful Goddess of Knowledge, Art and Literature. She rules the intellectual and creative realm, and is the patron goddess of libraries and schools. Balinese Hindus believe that knowledge is an essential medium to achieve the goal of life as a human being, and so honour her. She is also celebrated because she succeeded in taming the wandering and lustful mind of her consort, Brahma, who was preoccupied with the goddess of material existence, Shatarupa. On this day no one is allowed to read or write, and offerings are made to the lontar (palm-leaf manuscripts), books, and shrines.
August 14th – Balinese Blessing Ceremony – Hari Raya Pagerwasi
The name literally means ‘iron fence’, on which day ceremonies and prayers are held for strong mental and spiritual defense in welcoming the Galungan holiday. It is always held a few days after Hari Raya Saraswati to empower the learning and wisdom bestowed. Bali will be very colourful and people will be coming to and from the temples for most of the day so please refrain from honking on the roads.
17th August – Indonesia’s Independence Day
This is a national public holiday; therefore banks and government buildings will be closed, as will be a large amount of commerce. After the flag hoisting at the National Palace, and a display of marching from military to children to adults; neighborhoods prepare for fun and games for the kids. Krupuk (shrimp crisps) eating contests, games, races, bike decorating and lots of fun to fill the day. The women are busy in cooking contests to see who can make the biggest krupuk or the most delicious nasi tumpeng. You will see the red and white Indonesian flag everywhere, from cars to houses to businesses.will take offerings of food, fruit and flowers to the temple to be blesses by the priest. This day is devoted to the Agama Hindu God “Sanghyang Pasupati” when blessing ceremonies are conducted over heirlooms, sacred weapons and all instruments and tools made of metal (even cars & motorbikes), to bestow good energy for both day to day functioning as well as believed magical powers. This ceremony is held throughout Bali, especially at smiths, garages and workshops.

Giliran pulau dewata untuk dikunjungi Canon-FN. Mengingat banyak sekali obyek wisata dan banyaknya obyek fotografi di Bali, tentunya banyak fotografer bermunculan yang ada di Bali. Maka dari itu, kami ingin bertatap muka dengan FNers di pulau dewata.
Seminar Canon-FN Series 2013 yang akan dilaksanakan di Bali ini, mengambil tema “Maximizing Tele Lens in Landscape Photography and Tips & Tricks Using GraND Filter”. Tema ini akan disampaikan dengan baik oleh Yadi Yasin.
Dalam event ini peserta tidak hanya mengikuti seminar biasa, namun para peserta dipersilakan untuk memotret model-model yang sudah kami sediakan. Diharapkan para peserta mampu mengeksplore model-model itu dengan kreativitas yang peserta punya. Dan lebih menyenangkan lagi, karena jenis kamera yang digunakan pada sessi foto ini bebas, sesuai dengan yang dimiliki para peserta.

Puluhan mobil hasil modifikasi serta para Disc Jockey (DJ) dan Female DJ dari Bali-Lombok dipastikan bakal tampil “heboh” dan penuh atraktif pada ajang kontes paling akbar di tahun ini yang bertajuk “Seven Sensastion Contest 2013”.
Sukses menggelar kontes mobil di Jalan Pantai Kuta (depan Hotel Stone), pertengahan 2012 lalu, Forum Komunikasi Klub dan Komunitas Otomotif (FK3O) Bali bersama Mild Seven, District Bali dan Oracle bakal menggelar kontes serupa di pelataran parkir District Bali, Kuta, Sabtu (22/6) mendatang.
“Kami memcoba memberikan peluang bagi para penggemar otomotof di Bali untuk berekspresi dalam memodifikasi mobil agar mempunyai nilai seni yang inovatif dan berestetika,” ujar Ketua FK3O Bali Fadjar Mulyadi, Kamis (30/5).
Melihat animo dan antusias para penggemar otomotif di Bali, maka pihak panitia membatasi hanya 30 peserta yang diizinkan untuk berkompetisi dalam kontes tersebut. Begitu pula dalam ajang “DJ Compatition” yang banyak diminati oleh para DJ juga FDJ yang ada di Bali-Lombok, juga dibatasi hanya 30 peserta.
“Kami ingin menjaring anggota komunitas penggemar mobil di Bali untuk bisa eksis dalam dunia otomotif, serta menciptakan peluang berekspresi bagi para DJ juga FDJ yang ada di Bali dan Lombok. Nantinya akan kami seleksi secara ketat, dan bagi yang terbaik akan menjadi duta brand ambassador kami,” kata Mario Inkiriwang, Marketing Mild Seven Trade Leisure Bali dan Surabaya.
Dalam kontes modifikasi kali ini ada 5 variabel penilaian, masing-masing eksterior, interior, audio, engine, serta velg dan kaki-kaki. June 6th – Islamic Holiday – Isra Mi’raj Nabi Muhammad
Today is a national holiday to celebrate the Islamic Prophet Muhammad’s night journey of both physical and spiritual enlightenment. Some shops, all banks and government offices will be closed.
June 15th – Balinese Blessing Ceremony – Hari Tumpek Kadang
Tumpek Kandang Day is dedicated to animals. This Balinese Hindu ceremony is held every 210 days to honour and bless livestock and domesticated animals. The name Tumpek Kandang is derived from two words, ‘Tumpek’, which means Saturday and ‘Kandang’ being the Balinese word for cage. This special day honours nature and in particular cows will be washed in the rivers and adorned, pigs will have their bellies washed & wrapped in cloth, as well as being given specially chosen food. The Balinese believe this will bring their livestock and themselves more prosperity. Prayers will be held at the temples across the island.

‘I’m An Angel’ has continued to serve, educate and empower lives around Bali. On Saturday 15th June, KU DE TA invites you to share its annual charity event, led by Chef Phil Davenport, presenting an impeccable 6-course dinner with performances start with KDT All Stars on the decks to be continued as well as an auction to raise funds. The seventh annual Biznet Bali International Triathlon takes place in Jimbaran Bay, nestled between the Ayana Resort and Spa, the Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay and the Intercontinental Bali Resort. The weekend features an Olympic distance event and Sprint distance event, the only triathlons ever to be held in Bali. Join for a unique destination race combining a luxurious race setting with a challenging course. The top male and female winners of the Sprint Distance Race will be awarded fabulous package prizes at top resorts on Bali. The full moon (which has particular importance to the Balinese Hindus) falls on this day and ceremonies are held throughout the Hindu temples all across Bali. The Balinese that adhere to the Hindu Dharma religion will take offerings of food, fruit and flowers to the temple to be blesses by the priest. The Balinese themselves are then blessed by performing various rituals using holy water, incense smoke, petals and rice grains.

Curator’s Brief.
Alignment
The human body is a ‘vehicle’ of phenomenal, yet often misunderstood dexterity and intelligence. Its capacity for restoration and renewal often defies the so-called medical experts. Through simple, noninvasive stimulation of the senses our body’s innate abilities to regenerate, and in essence create “new life”, are easily initiated.
The exhibition Alignment presents the work of seven contemporary artists via the mediums of sketching, painting, installation, performance and film.
What defines Alignment from other exhibitions is its intention to communicate beyond the “general aesthetic experience” and to provide insights and explanations as to how the human body and mind interact with art on deeper levels.
Via the visual, audio and energetic “tools” utilized by the artists their works project information that is decoded by the mind and the auric field, and that arouse intelligent responses and induce adjustments within the body’s self regulating systems.
Alignment is an invitation from the artists to audience to increase their awareness and bring greater understanding to what occurs on the conscious, subconscious and metaphysical levels, while engaging with the works of art.

9TH MAY - ASCENSION DAY
Banks, government buildings and some commerce will be closed on this national holiday on the 40th day after Easter commemorating the ascent of Jesus as witnessed by his disciples.
9TH MAY - DARK MOON - TILEM SASIH JIYESTHA
The Balinese adhering to the Hindu Dharma religion will celebrate ‘Tilem’ in temple ceremonies, which are mostly held in every major temple and family shrines around the island of Bali. On this day Hindus make offerings to the Gods, placed on the ground at the entrance of each housing compound. The aim is to beg God’s grace; so that one’s dark thoughts will be illuminated by Him.
11TH MAY - HINDU BLESSING CEREMONY - HARI TUMPEK KRULUT
Tumpek Krulut Day is dedicated to all musical instruments, masks and other instruments used in art performances and the numerous religious ceremonies in Bali. It is celebrated every 210 days, in the 17th week of the Balinese Pawukon cycle (a cycle consisting of 30 weeks). On this special day, offerings are given to pay homage to musical instruments, masks, and dance costumes. The instruments and other paraphernalia are cleaned, decorated with young coconut leaf offerings, given a special set of offerings and sprinkled with Holy water. The members of the group that use the instruments pray together and ask for blessings from the Gods.
24TH MAY - FULL MOON - PURNAMA SASIH SADHA
The full moon (which has particular importance to the Balinese Hindus) falls on this day and ceremonies are held throughout the Hindu temples all across Bali. The Balinese that adhere to the Hindu Dharma religion will take offerings of food, fruit and flowers to the temple to be blesses by the priest. The Balinese themselves are then blessed by performing various rituals using holy water, incense smoke, petals and rice grains.
25TH MAY - WESAK DAY - HARI RAYA WAISAK
Wesak Day is celebrated throughout the world to commemorate and honor the birthday of Lord Buddha, the Enlightened One. It is the most auspicious day in the Buddhist calendar, marking the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha and is celebrated as a national holiday throughout Indonesia. Therefore all banks and government offices will be closed on this day, as may some shops and other forms of commerce.
